What I Did This Summer

These pictures tell the story of my Summer of 2009. I wish there was a picture of a winning lottery ticket--maybe next year.

The feet in the picture belong to me. Mallory and I set up a kiddie pool in the backyard on a hot August day and floated [insert laughter here] on air mattresses all afternoon. Okay, actually, we were scrunched tightly in the pool together but we really did play in the pool for hours. We were both sunburned by the end of our lounging-about-in-the-pool session. Even Jack sunbathed next to the pool that day.

I planted two patio tomatoes. As you can see in the picture, I had some success.

Mallory and I did some rummaging (yard sales) this summer. The picture of Mallory on the sidewalk was the day of the BIG Highway 50 yard sales in southern Indiana. We were so excited that I took a picture of the change pile we took with us. We did not find a single sale on Highway 50. Just some rain and disappointment. But at least we came home with our big bag of change for future bargain hunting.

Leasa, Jeff and Lindsay were home this summer and we had a Mexican Fiesta night. Leasa made delicious enchilladas. We also celebrated the rainy 4th of July with them and the rest of the family at Bob and Christy's. We were forced inside by the weather but enjoyed playing some board games. We don't do that often enough.

My workplace hosted a display booth at each of the 3 county fairs in the area and I helped man the booths. I love the sights, smells and sounds of "the fair". The picture of Mallory and Aaron was taken on July 24th, the day they moved home and the highlight of my summer. They visited me at the fair and we all had a GIANT tenderloin.

[I ask myself the same question every year] Where did the summer go? I had planned to get a lot of reading done and to spend endless hours on my swing but the days rushed by and I only finished one book and my swing has the lowest mileage EVER. It's still been good...it's been great. The months go by quickly. Before I know it, I will be telling you my story of the summer of 2010.

I love your fair pictures! What a nice recap of summer! You'll just have to cozy up on the couch and read this winter...plus...it's still pretty warm. You could get a lot of miles on the swing in October!
