Olivia's Love Bug (Cozy Coupe Makeover)

Last week while I was rummaging through the magazines in the recycling center, I found a recent issue of  Family Fun.  In the issue was a picture of a [used] Little Tikes Cozy Coupe car that had been made-over to look like a Mini Cooper.  Since Olivia's birthday was approaching, the wheels in my wee brain started to turn.  Thanks to my little friend Emerson, whose Cozy Coupe days were long-gone, I had a well-loved and used Cozy Coupe in my possession within a day. With a couple cans of spray paint and some vinyl, I transformed the Coupe into a Love Bug for granddaughter, Olivia.

well-loved Cozy Coupe before.....

Olivia's Love Bug

I first primed the car with Valspar plastic spray paint primer and let it dry for 24 hours.
I then applied two coats of Valspar spray paint (frosty berry)
The vinyl decals were cut using my Cricut machine.

I can hardly believe that my vision for this car turned out as I had hoped and dreamed.

Today, we (Grandma and Grandpa Bozell) attended Olivia's 1st birthday party and presented her with her Love Bug. She seemed to love it. We put her inside and she immediately took to the steering wheel. We pushed her around the house...she was all smiles and so were we.

Birthday party pics to follow soon......

Oh my goodness Tresa, LOVE the love bug! She is so lucky to have you for a grandma! Isn't it amazing the way these grandkids can steal our hearts? I see you are just as smitten with your granddaughter as I am with mine! Just wait till she gets older and you can do all of your hobbies with her - it's so much fun!
Hugs,
Julie

Thank you Julie for the sweet comment. When I saw the pictures of the space you made in your studio for your granddaughter, I got all giddy with excitement over the future with Olivia. I don't want to rush time; I just like thinking about what the future holds. I hope she will be my crafting buddy someday.

HUGS BACK!

Wow! It's hard to believe that it's even the same car, what an amazing transformation! Your granddaughter looks adorable sitting in her pink car, what sweet memories you've created. :)

That is amazing! Not only updated & brand new looking, it looks like it was designed for a little girl. Because it was of course! :) But the store bought version isn't nearly as appealing for little ladies! I have a handful of nieces who would be very jealous!

Thank you for the sweet comment! I must say, decorating that car was so much fun. I was giddy with excitement. I'm honestly not the best crafter in the world, but with Olivia as my inspiration, I was really focused. Thank you for stopping by!
